DETAILED PROJECT DESCRIPTION -
Commissioned by the client in 2002 following the acquisition of the land adjacent to the Mast Quay Phase 1 development for new build residential development on the site of King Henry VIII dockyard in Woolwich. Proposals for 218 residential units in the form of two towers one of a 14 storeys and a landmark building of 21 storeys. In addition to the design of the residential accommodation on the site the following was also considered:
Key elements: PPG 3 - urban regeneration, sustainable development including provision of Combined Heat and Power to give energy efficiency, high density / mixed-use riverside development, archaeological investigation, brownfield development, site in flood plain- as a result solution described by Environment Agency as "innovative", inter-tidal terrace, protected species, Traffic for London, high-density development, Port of London, Black Redstart, tall buildings, tower blocks, section 106 negotiations
