DETAILED PROJECT DESCRIPTION –
Restoration and conversion of the Royal College of Organists, a Grade II listed building built in the late 19th Century, situated adjacent to the Royal Albert Hall, into a house for a high-wealth individual. The original occupier was the National School of Music, and later, the Royal College of Music.
The façade was constructed with dominant timber bays contrasted againstan ornate façade decorated in Sgraffitto, a rare Italian technique which involves applying and then modelling wet layers of coloured render onto a masonry base. As part of the project the practice restored the façade using conservation techniques and in addition included in the design new Sgraffitto panels
